Serendipity Custom Cakes was born when my aunt Melanie and I started taking cake classes to learn how to decorate cakes. I love to bake and she is very crafty so we figured if we combined our talents we could probably do a pretty cool cake. We started decorating in January of 2009, got our first paid job in March of 2009 and business has kept coming every since. This blog gives our clients insight into our everyday life and cake decorating adventures.

May 2011
This month has been an interesting month:) With everyone getting married this summer, we have done 2 bridal shower cakes this month! I LOVE doing bridal shower cakes. They are way less stress than a wedding cake but they can be just as elegant:)
Our first cake was at the beginning of the month. The bride is doing a royalty theme for her wedding. Her colors were royal blue, white and black. We did a daisy theme for the cake with white and blue gerbera daisies. The final result was simple and elegant. The bride loved it and everyone said that it tasted great.
The cake that we did last week was probably one of my favorite cakes to do thus far. Our client, Dana, called us and had some ideas of what she was wanting. She was a bridesmaid in her friends wedding and found Serendipity on the internet. She was a pleasure to work with. The theme was royalty again, but the colors were pinks (my personal favorite:)). The cake turned out fabulous and was EXACTLY what they were looking for. In fact, when Dana picked up the cake, she said it was even better then she was expected. I love it when we exceed our clients expectations.
Yesterday, I experimented in the kitchen a little. My aunt kept telling me about these cake truffles and I had seen cake pops at Starbucks. I had been interested in possibly making these. So yesterday in trying to figure out what in the world to make for the kiddos' baseball BBQ (which was cancelled due to rain, in JUNE, unbelievable, but I digress), I decided to try out my hand at cake pops. Let me just say, WOW! These little tasty treats are pretty phenomenal, and the wonderful thing is that they are so rich, that one is really enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Now my head is spinning with different flavor combos: carrot cake with cream cheese frosting dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with cinnamon, chocolate and peanut butter frosting dipped in chocolate, apple cake with white chocolate and cinnamon.....I feel flavor overload coming on...and I like it:)
So leave feedback friends, let me know what flavor combos you think would be amazing. Who knows, maybe in the future we will do a cake pop giveaway if your flavor gets picked.....
Have a blessed day and happy baking:)
